The National Office is in charge of coordinating service centers commonly known as Cheshire services (Previously known as Cheshire Homes ) which are found in six (6) provinces of Zambia. Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) has the presence in Zambia dates back to 1973 when the first Cheshire Home was set up. The National Council is the main controlling body of the Society. It is made up of 12 elected board members who provide guidance to the national office and the Cheshire Services.
CHSZ works with persons with disabilities throughout the country and implements activities through established Cheshire services (Previously known as Cheshire homes) and also implements programs in partnerships with the different Organisations, DPOs, NGOs, FBOs among others. Through the National Office, CHSZ is required to cooperate with various organisations and line government ministries in the provision of its core functions. These programmes seek to ensure that persons with disabilities are supported to achieve their rights to education, employment, sustainable livelihood, healthcare and other basic services.
